How to display estimated delivery dates on product pages

Before buying, customers often want to know, "If I place an order now, when will I receive it?" With 17TRACK Pre-sale EDD, you can display a reference estimated delivery date on product pages to help customers understand delivery timing and buy with more confidence.
Pre-sale EDD requires two types of setup:

  • Set estimated delivery date sources, display settings, and widget styles in 17TRACK.
  • Add the 17TRACK Pre-sale EDD widget to your Shopify theme and save the theme.

If the widget has been added but EDD sources or display settings are incomplete, the estimated delivery date will still not be displayed on the product page.

Where does the pre-sale estimated delivery date come from?

17TRACK can generate pre-sale estimated delivery dates from the following sources:

Source

Description

Carrier official EDD

Attempts to obtain the carrier's official estimated delivery date based on the carrier and origin you set. Availability depends on carrier and route support.

Custom EDD

Calculates the estimated delivery date based on your order cutoff time, processing time, working days, and transit time.

You can enable one or more sources and drag them to adjust priority. The system checks sources from top to bottom and displays the first available result.
If no Pre-sale EDD source is enabled, the Pre-sale EDD widget will not be displayed on the product page, even if you have added the widget to your theme.

Setup steps

Step1. Go to the Pre-sale EDD settings page

In the 17TRACK app, go to:
Settings > EDD Settings > Pre-sale EDD
Pre-sale EDD and Post-sale EDD are configured separately. Sources, rules, and widget styles configured for Pre-sale EDD will not affect Post-sale EDD.
The setup guide at the top of the page helps you check whether these 4 items are complete:

  • Complete display settings
  • Set EDD sources
  • Add the EDD widget
  • Enable product page display

Customers can see the estimated delivery date on product pages only after all items are complete.

Step2. Complete display settings

In Display settings, complete the basic settings required for product page display.

1. Set order cutoff time

Order cutoff time is used in the widget text. If Custom EDD is enabled, this time is also used to calculate the custom estimated delivery date.
Please note: The order cutoff time shown in the widget will be converted to UTC based on the timezone you select, so the time customers see may differ from the local time you set.
Set:

  • Time: order cutoff time
  • Timezone: the timezone used for the cutoff time

If time or timezone is not selected when saving, the page will prompt you to complete it.

2. Select products where EDD should be hidden

If some products or collections are not suitable for Pre-sale EDD, add them under Products hidden from EDD.
Products that match the hidden rule will not display Pre-sale EDD, even when an estimated delivery date is available.

3. Set date format

In EDD format settings, select the date format customers will see, such as:

  • 15 Jun, 2026
  • Jun 15, 2026
  • 2026/06/15

Date format is required for product page display. If it is not selected when saving, the page will prompt you to complete it.

Step3. Set EDD source priority

In Pre-sale EDD source priority, you can enable, disable, or drag to sort the following sources:

  • Carrier official EDD
  • Custom EDD

The system uses the first available estimated delivery date from top to bottom.
For example, if Carrier official EDD is placed above Custom EDD, the product page will display Carrier official EDD first when it is available for the current product and destination. If it is temporarily unavailable, the system will try Custom EDD.

Step4. Set pre-sale shipping configuration

To use Carrier official EDD, set up pre-sale shipping configuration first.
Click Edit in Pre-sale shipping configuration to open the settings page.

1. Set default pre-sale shipping configuration

The default pre-sale shipping configuration applies to products that do not match a specific shipping configuration.
Set:

  • Default carrier
  • Service type if required by the selected carrier
  • Default origin: country/region, state/province/region, and city

2. Set specific pre-sale shipping configurations (optional)

If different products or collections use different carriers, service types, or origins, you can add specific pre-sale shipping configurations.
When adding a specific pre-sale shipping configuration, set:

  • Configuration name
  • Applicable products or collections
  • Carrier and service type
  • Origin

Selected products or collections will use the corresponding specific pre-sale shipping configuration first. Products that do not match a specific configuration will use the default pre-sale shipping configuration.

Step5. Set Custom EDD rules

If Custom EDD is enabled, configure Custom EDD rules. Click Edit in Custom EDD rules to open the settings page.
Custom EDD calculates the estimated delivery date using:

Estimated delivery date = Order cutoff time + Processing time + Transit time

1. Set order processing time

Enter the number of working days your warehouse needs to process orders. For example, 1 day means your warehouse usually needs 1 working day to process an order.

2. Set working days

Select the days when your warehouse can process orders. For example, if your warehouse processes orders only from Monday to Friday, select Monday to Friday only.

3. Set default transit time

Default transit time is set by country/region. Click Add item, select a country/region, and enter the transit time range.
If Custom EDD is enabled, at least one default transit time is required. Otherwise, Custom EDD cannot calculate the estimated delivery date.

4. Set specific transit times (optional)

If some products or collections require different transit times, you can add specific transit times.
When adding a specific transit time, set:

  • Rule name
  • Applicable products or collections
  • Country/region
  • Transit time range

Products that match a specific transit time will use it first. Products that do not match a specific transit time will use the default transit time.

Step6. Add the EDD widget to your theme

In EDD widget, you can check whether the product page widget has been added.
After you click Add to theme, the system redirects you to the Shopify theme editor. Add the 17TRACK Pre-sale EDD App Block to the product page template and save the theme.
After saving the theme, return to the 17TRACK app. The EDD widget status will update to Added.

Step7. Edit widget text and style

Click Edit in EDD widget to open the widget editor.
You can configure the estimated delivery text and style customers see on the product page, including:

  • Text content
  • Text style
  • Background color
  • Margin and padding
  • Border radius, border width, border style, and border color

The preview on the right side of the editor helps you confirm how the widget will look in your store.

Step8. Enable product page display

After display settings, EDD sources, and widget setup are complete, return to Product page display and click Enable.
If any required item is incomplete, the page will show a prompt and guide you to the corresponding setting:

  • Display settings are not complete
  • No EDD source is enabled
  • The EDD widget has not been added to the product page

After completing the required items, click Enable again. The product page display status will become Enabled.

Customers will see the estimated delivery date on the product page only after the widget has been added and product page display is enabled.

FAQ

1. Why is Pre-sale EDD not displayed on the product page?

Possible reasons include:

  • Product page display is not enabled
  • The 17TRACK Pre-sale EDD App Block has not been added to the product page
  • Display settings are incomplete, such as order cutoff time, timezone, or date format
  • No Pre-sale EDD source is enabled
  • Enabled sources temporarily have no available estimated delivery date
  • Pre-sale shipping configuration is incomplete when using Carrier official EDD
  • Custom EDD rules are incomplete when using Custom EDD
  • The current product or collection is set to hide EDD

Go back to Settings > EDD Settings > Pre-sale EDD and check the setup guide and page prompts.

2. If multiple sources have estimated delivery dates, which one will be displayed?

The system follows the order you set in Pre-sale EDD source priority and displays the first available result from top to bottom.

3. If I only use Custom EDD, do I need to set pre-sale shipping configuration?

No. Pre-sale shipping configuration is mainly used for Carrier official EDD.
If you only use Custom EDD, complete display settings, Custom EDD rules, widget setup, and product page display.

4. Will configured rules be deleted after an EDD source is disabled?

No. After a source is disabled, it will temporarily stop being used to obtain estimated delivery dates, but configured pre-sale shipping configurations or Custom EDD rules will be retained.

5. When should I set specific pre-sale shipping configurations?

Use specific pre-sale shipping configurations when different products or collections use different carriers, service types, or origins.
For example, regular products ship from a local warehouse, while oversized products ship from an overseas warehouse. You can set a separate carrier and origin for oversized products.

6. When should I set specific transit times?

Use specific transit times when some products or collections have different transit times from the default.
For example, regular products take 5-8 days to the United States, while oversized products take 10-15 days. You can set a separate transit time for oversized products.
