[FAQs] Update your DNS records

This step of the process requires you to complete tasks outside of 17TRACK. You will need to apply your new DNS records, which were generated in 17TRACK, to your domain. Note that you will need to go to your company’s DNS provider’s platform to make these changes. You may also need to consult your IT team on the below next steps.

Not all domain registration services allow you to directly edit all DNS records. If you cannot update the records, contact your DNS provider for information on how to update them.

  1. Navigate to your DNS provider; for instance:

  1. Paste in the copied text.

  1. Add your DNS records (Note:adding the Record type in the DNS provider).

  1. MX Record Configuration Steps for General DNS Platforms
  • Log in to the domain management platform and access the Advanced DNS settings page of the target domain.
  • Locate the Mail Settings section and handle existing MX records (edit/delete).
  • Click "Add New Record", select the record type as MX, and fill in the required information as follows:

Host: Enter "@" for the primary domain; enter the corresponding prefix (e.g., "mail") for subdomains

Value: Enter the server address provided by the email service provider (must have an A/AAAA record; do not enter CNAME or IP address)

Priority: Lower numbers indicate higher priority (recommended to set 10 for the primary server and 20 for the backup server)

TTL: Keep the default "Automatic" or set to 3600 second.

  • Save the configuration. The record will take effect globally within 10 minutes to 48 hours.
